The wait is over. On February 6, 2026, the Olympic flame was officially ignited in northern Italy, marking the start of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. This historic event marks the first time the Games are being co-hosted by two major regions, blending the metropolitan energy of Milan with the traditional alpine charm of Cortina d'Ampezzo.

The opening ceremony was a tribute to the Italian spirit, featuring immersive light shows and performances that celebrated the country’s rich artistic and sporting heritage. Over 3,500 athletes from 90 nations have arrived to compete across 116 events.
