The Trivedi Institute: Translating Space Science into Longevity Startups

The University of Pittsburgh has launched the Trivedi Institute, a $25 million initiative dedicated to the "Orbital Life Sciences." By conducting research in the microgravity environment of low-earth orbit, the institute has discovered that cellular aging processes accelerate in space, providing a unique "fast-forward" button for studying longevity.
Healing from High Above
The institute’s first major success involve using microgravity to print complex 3D tissue structures that are impossible to create under the strain of Earth’s gravity.
Space = Longevity Lab
"Space is the ultimate laboratory for longevity," says the institute’s director. "The things we learn about how cells break down in orbit are giving us the keys to keeping them young on the ground."
