US Senators push for stricter deepfake regulations

A bipartisan group of US senators introduced the 'Digital Identity Protection Act' today, aimed at curbing the spread of malicious deepfakes. The bill proposes strict liability for platforms that fail to remove non-consensual synthetic media within 24 hours.

This comes amid rising concerns over AI-generated misinformation and harassment. "We need legal boundaries that respect innovation but protect human dignity," said Senator Warner during the press briefing.
